R.I.P. Lilly Pulitzer

R.I.P. Lilly Pulitzer

Color Doyenne Lilly Pulitzer died yesterday at 81. Best known for her colorful shifts and trend setter of the Palm Beach set, she has long been a color icon for me.

Many have written about her early history and expansion across the board from home to tech gadgets including me in early 2011. But she will always be best known for her “Lillys” the little colorful shift.

Her Lilly’s haven’t changed much over the years, but for her time she was a trend setter and lifestyle setter.

She was the New Face of Beauty™ of her world in the 60’s as she bucked the dress code of her socially affluent set, and rebelled against the ridged style and inhibitions of the day. She did away with such things as wearing corsets and panty hose and that, along with her imagination, her appreciation of all that was different has made her the icon she is.

Her legacy will long live on in her colorful product, and I for one will always admire her.
