BlogTournNYC brought me back to my home town, filled me with inspiration and insight into what’s new in my business, as well as infused me with creative juice! Highlights for me on a personal note…

The great offices of FAB.com. I don’t think anyone who worked there is over 32 years of age, and their work environment is as colorful and fun as the products they sell in their online catalog. I particularly loved their core values…posted throughout their offices. I’ve decided to incorporate them as my own.

I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Vicente Wolf in person. He is the reason I began blogging and using Social Media, especially Facebook in any meaningful way. As always, he keeps it real and is a walking inspiration.Who knew when I started blogging because of him, I’d be invited by Modenus to participate in this tour?

As a native New Yorker I had never walked across the Brooklyn Bridge. What a thrill, plus the tour through DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass) and meeting some terrific artisans and craftsmen. I love seeing true creativity flourish everywhere.

You know, living in Sonoma County is all about Food and Wine, so of course I had to try out a new restaurant called Buddhakan. What made this so memorable for me however, was the great company…A handful of my fellow bloggers came along allowing us to get to know each other a bit more personally! What a pleasure, from Holland, Germany, South Africa via London, Denmark, Canada and LA plus myself. An international delight.

And the pièce de résistance…our last night on a boat tour around the island. We watched a perfect sunset as we floated past the new skyline of lower Manhattan, and the iconic Statue of Liberty. Both brought a moment of silence and a tear to my eye as I thought about the resilience of NYC.

At the end of the day walking down the West Side highway on our way to have a late night drink I saw this sign…and I realized…home is now Sonoma County, not New York! And while it’s great to visit, I don’t belong there anymore. sigh…

All in all, it was a GREAT trip, and the people are what made it so. To see 6 days of crazy fun check out the video below. You’ll catch just a glimpse of what I’m talking about.

A personal thank you to Veronika Miller and Tim Bogan for including me in this tour. Hope to see you again in the future. Cheers!
