What is it about Spring that makes me want to run out and buy flowers? I mean, it’s not like our winters here in Northern California are particularly harsh or grey…well maybe grey, but also emerald green. Never the less, every spring I want to fill my garden with blooms, and place them all over my house! They simply make me happy. Flowers can be:
- as elaborate as a banquet arrangement
- multiple arrangements in one room
- a simple as a single bud in a vase
- or a floating flower in an exquisite bowl
- they can be expensive arrangements from the top florists
- or a $1.99 bunch of daffodils from the supermarket and placed in individual vases all over the house
- and if you live in NYC? Even better, there are flowers stalls on every corner and in every deli!
And…did you know that the different colors of flowers mean different things? As an example, Orange flowers are warm. Orange mixes the passion of red with the unbridled happiness of yellow. Whether spreading their zest through their own bouquet or else spicing up an assorted bunch, orange flowers are vibrant and vibrancy is fun. Of course there is also the Language of Flowers. You can send your heart through a bouquet if the receiver knows how to read them! And of course, your favorites can say a lot about you. I particularly love Peonies, which mean aphrodisiac (hmmmmmmm….) and sunflowers which signify loyalty and wishes (ok)!
Bringing flowers into your home add a bit of life to a room, a pop of color, texture and sometimes, even a great scent. They can be mixed or matched it doesn’t really matter. They just seem to welcome you into your space. Flowers are Little Bits of Beauty™ that uplift you everyday. They add a freshness and an Energtics to Space™ that just makes you feel good. So I say, buy yourself some flowers, in fact, send yourself flowers once a month! After all, you’re worth it!
What do you do to uplift yourself? What are your favorite flowers? Do you think of them as an indulgence or part of your home? I invite you to leave me a comment below. In the meantime, feast your eyes on more Little Bits of Beauty™ below!

Such a beautiful post Irene and the images are just so pretty. I’m with you on peonies. There’s just something so exquisite about them. I had a small bottle of peony essential oil a while back and the scent just transported me to an elevated space. I can smell it now.
I like to regularly buy myself flowers and put them in vases on the table. They really do totally uplift a room as well as put a smile on my face. Thanks for the inspiration.

Beautiful, Irene. Oh, I LOVE flowers. “Just living is not enough. One must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower.” ~Hans Christian Andersen Yes, flowers seem essential to me. I’m a rose lover. AND, this Spring, for some reason, I’ve really gotten into tulips. Oh my – they are FANTASTIC. So free-wheeling. So totally themselves. 🙂
Flowers are essential because they are one way to bring nature inside. And we all need nature. Nature heals, relaxes, and exudes peace. A great antidote to our oh-so-sped up, techno, info-overload world. A great balancer. Thank you for this beautiful post.

Sweet Spring inspiration Irene, and thanks for the reminder. I don’t by cut flowers for myself often enough.
You are so right, $ 1.99 Daffodils can look great. Just like with interiors it is all how you use and arrange things.
Cheers,
Claudia

Irene the type of beauty you create speaks of the inner beauty you have. Did you ever stop to think that why God created spring? To tell us that we live in a transient world. So those who can gain from this temporary phase will be enjoying the life in full.
