Vintage Signs-Sonoma Style

Vintage Signs-Sonoma Style

Have you noticed the proliferation of vintage signs, old subway signs and inspirational words in general as accessories and on fabric in interior design photos recently? I’m not quiet sure what that is about…could be part of the industrial trend, the reuse, recycle trend, or simply I’m just seeing a lot of them?

Words on signs and on fabrics

I do love typography, words and vintage signs. They certainly can add a lot of  drama with their size, color and personality in many a different interior space. I’m just beginning to notice that the authentic ones are getting more and more expensive!  Of course, there are some great reproductions out there but if you find the real deal, hold on to it tight! Vintage signs have been a collector’s item for decades. Places to find them are locally at antique stores, yard sales or a pawn shop. And of course there’s always the internet. Some fun sites to find old sign reproductions are always ebay, or individual sites like  Jack and Friends or Bob’s Garage. And the best old subway signs I’ve found are at Vintage New York Subway.

Could you see using any of these ideas from signs to printed fabrics and inspirational words in your home as decor? Do you have any special places you go to find them? If so, I love finding new resources, won’t you share yours by leaving the name or link in the comment section below? I’d love to hear from you and what you think of this trend.

Love words and signs. All ways. Not just for the words but for the shape and feel of what they bring to a space. Having said that I think it depends on the space. Words and signs dont work in every style & room.

Absolutely right Jennifer! But where it applies, I do love. Especially inspirational words! Kind of like a moving creative visualization board! Thanks for stopping by!
