Shades of Blues range from soft aquatic calm shades to mysterious navy’s. They have not been as prevalent in contemporary interior decor as they used to be. But never the less, blue is still the overwhelming favorite amongst all the colors there are.
While not really a gender specific color, many men say blue is there favorite color. I believe this is because men run warmer body temperature wise, and have a higher testosterone level so, they are looking for balance and choose blue. In general blues are considered cool, calm and peaceful. They are considered a color of dependability, trustworthiness and committed. Blues are often used in classic or traditional room settings.
Softer blues are known as the color of Divinity. These shades enhance:
- Peace and understanding
- Calm and relaxation
- easy communication
On the other hand, dark blues from navy to indigo amplify the energy of blue. At a physical level, while blue is calming, indigo is sedating. It deepens and turns energy inward. It is mysterious and mystical and bridges the earth energies with the heavens. These darker, deeper shades can enhance:
- the subconscious
- spiritual attainment
- self-mastery
- wisdom
- sudden awareness
- intuition
- psychic abilities
- exhilaration
- intensity
- fun and sun
And, I love blues mixed with all other colors, especially yellows and oranges, their complimentary colors. Mixed with shades of plum and lavender, or chartreuse and brown, blue takes on a more interesting and elegant look.
What do you think of the blue shades? Which one is your favorite? If you want some help adding blue shades in your home, give me a call.
In the meantime, enjoy the video below for more ideas for blue decor. Cheers!

I love all the blues, but the Divinity one is my favorite- I like soothing colors and peaceful, relaxing environments. But I also really like the darker blues, I like that they enhance intuition and wisdom…do you think there’s a way to mix the shades in a way they will make me feel peaceful and wise? 🙂
