Hurray, it’s spring, and the season for peonies, my absolute favorite flower!
While I do love almost all flowers, peonies, best known in shades of soft pinks to deep burgundies, but also from white to corals and orange, are may absolute favorites.

When I moved into my current home I planted a bush…it took 5 years before I got one bloom on it. I’d almost given up! Now I have plants in several different areas of my garden and can’t wait for them to bloom too.
Peonies are the traditional floral symbol of China, the state flower of Indiana, and the 12th wedding anniversary flower. Peonies are known as the flower of riches and honor. With their lush, full, rounded bloom, peonies embody romance and prosperity and are regarded as an omen of good fortune and a happy marriage.

No wonder I waited specifically to get married at the end of April in order to have peonies in my flower arrangements. I think they look fabulous mixed with all kinds of other spring flowers too.

Hmmm. It’s hard to pick just one. I love Casablanca lilies because they are big and beautiful and fragrant. BUT … I love colorful flowers too – these rich peonies are amazing! I think my absolute favorite has to be multiple colors of fragrant roses – especially from a garden.

irene–I adore peonies–mine are just coming into bud–a dark rosey pink–the fragrance takes me right back to my childhood at my Grand mothers in Virginia–i can almost smell them now—divine!!

ADORE peonies. Mine should be blooming shortly!! I was asked by Traditional Home to design a bouquet for NDI to create for my New Trad designer Allison Hennessy. I chose peonies of course, mixed with garden roses and other spring blooms – they did a beautiful job interpreting it!! I posted it on my fb page just in case you’re interested.
