Once you’ve set up the lighting and set the table it’s time to set up the drinks station(s) when Entertaining Sonoma Style ™!
Whether alcoholic or non, I usually like to set up drinks well away from the food. It helps me to spread people out, and to create a flow throughout the space. People tend to collect around food and drink, so the placement of both in your venue is important. Here are some tips and tricks to creating fun drink set ups:
- Separate drinks station from the food and dessert station, and place in a different part of the venue
- If you have the room, separate the non-alchoholic and alcoholic drinks from each other
- use a grease pencil, tags or some way to identify cups for your guests…one glass per guest helps with clean up
- If you can, have someone with a tray of drinks by the front door to greet your guests
- And/or have a bartender to help serve, and to keep an eye on over drinking
- Use unusual containers as ice chests to keep drinks cold, from wheel barrels to tin troughs, fire pits to planters
- Anything you can pre serve, or to make things as easy as possible is great for your guests
- Freeze edible flowers or mint in ice cubes for a pretty touch for iced drinks
However you choose to entertain, be bold, get creative and set up different stations to keep the flow moving at your next party. After all, Entertaining Sonoma Style ™ is all about having fun, isn’t it?
