As many of you know, Oprah announced that she was searching for the next TV star for her new network station OWN. I first heard about it on twitter about a month ago and immediately wanted to put my ideas together.
I’ve been thinking about my own TV show for sometime. I always said I wanted it on Oprah, and always thought of it as happening some time in the future. When Oprah announced that she was ending her career as a talk show host and starting her own channel…well…perfect I thought! That’s where my show will be. And then, I saw the announcement on twitter.
So I buckled down and started to make my vague ideas tangible. Of course, when did I start actually shooting the video to present my ideas? This past Thursday…the deadline was this past Saturday at midnight. Nothing like a little bit of pressure. I have never really worked much in front of the camera, and I definitely have never worked with imovie to help me edit and put together a video. But somehow I seemed to learn quickly under pressure.
And, I did it! The editing is a bit rough, but it is done. The concept is a good one and it was great to actually verbalize, visualize and present the whole idea.
I love when synchronicity plays through my life…I said my own TV show…I spoke Oprah’s name…she announced her own channel…and then announces to the world that she is looking for people who want their own show.
Now…will my show end up being the one on OWN? It’s possible. I’m not focused on how it will look, but rather love that this whole series of events caused me to actually take action on my passion. It caused me to crystalize my ideas, put them down on paper, speak them out loud and present it to the world. THAT is how things manifest in life.
Synchronicity is truly a Little Bit of Beauty™! Do you have a good synchronistic story from your life? Please share it with me here.

Nice how you made this into a blog about synchronicity rather than a sales blog post – clever. Good video too!
I see synchronicity in my life a lot.
One good example is the fact that I was an Aupair in the USA MANY years ago and never intended living back here again. However, life had other plans and my husbands work brought us back here as permanent residents at a time in my life when I was searching for a work at home career that was really me. I am now a coordinator for an Aupair program placing aupairs in all areas of the USA and giving them all the opportunities that I got all those years ago. So I now have a job I love that would not have happened if my husbands company hadn’t moved us here. All seems pretty freaky to me 🙂

WOW! What a dream! Look at you putting everything together so quickly! You spoke from the heart and a place from passion! I love it! Congrats and good luck to you!

To me, synchronicity is when things seems to be effortlessly falling into place; into a peaceful, continuous flow. I think, if we are paying attention, these moments are frequent.
We are impressed with your video, Irene. Atticus has been intrigued with “green walls” and is hoping to learn more. He thinks a green wall would be a brilliant venue for him to relieve himself! -
I am so impressed, Irene! You are an inspiration! to be able to grab hold of your dream and actually put that video together and jump right in to the mix — that is so encouraging to see someone do this! I love your concept for the show and even if Opra doesn’t buy into it, I bet someone would. I know that I would watch it! Congratulations and I hope to hear great news that you are the winner!

I agree with Donna! You are such an inspiration Irene! It’s so impressive that you were able to put together your video so quickly. I can tell you’ve been formulating your ideas for a long time. I love the synchronicity of life. If we take the time to listen and observe the world around us, things can just magically come together. Thank you for encouraging all of us to live our dreams!

Hi Irene- Really impressive what you were able to do in so little time. And I love your idea. We all could use more beauty in our lives!
What I also loved, along the synchronicity line, is that you didn’t “plan” on what had to happen. You put it out there with Oprah as your focus, but didn’t put out there how you wanted to connect with her. By leaving that part open, anything could happen, and happen it did (and I bet that way was nothing that you could have envisioned initially!) Good luck to you.

i’m impressed with your broad scope of what ‘little bits of beauty’ can entail. i tend to think broadly, and see ties between interior design, garden design, personal style/fashion, + hosting/entertaining. i like that you stepped back + made it a broad proposal of how ‘little bits of beauty’ exist in all of these arenas + more, rather than a super-focused proposal on just garden design or neighborhood revitalization, for example.
also, i would absolutely watch this show (or read this magazine, or whatever form it winds up taking.) it looks great. best of luck!

Irene, you look great and look natural in front of the camera. I love how you incorporated pictures for your ideas as well. They make the ideas come to life! I can also feel your passion through the video. I sincerely hope that you get Oprah’s attention 🙂

Dear Irene, you are so clever and convincing. I would watch your bits of beauty. I too have dreamed of doing a tv show and did my little bit but unlike you I waited till Saturday, to film. No time to edit and my submission was rejected cos it was over 3 minutes.
I would love to hang out sometime, I love your Flair! -
Hi Irene, what an awesome idea. I loved the pitch and can see that kind of program on the Oprah channel. The video was really brought your idea to life. Remember us little people on your way up!

What a great example of how you can attract opportunity in your life if you just listen to the signs. You had a dream to have a TV show and saw the opportunity. Your vision and passion is admirable. Thank you for sharing your vision and giving us all the courage to follow our passions. Good Luck
