Brocantes-Part 3 of the Loire Valley Chronicles-an invitation

Brocantes-Part 3 of the Loire Valley Chronicles-an invitation

So…you saw the fabulous Moulin Bregeon, and the rooms in the homes in Linières-Bouton…all those fabulous pieces of furniture and pieces of art, china and accessories…all of them…came from the local Brocantes in the Loire Valley.

There are architectural artifacts such as beautiful tile, windows, doors, stone, & beams

I want to know from all of you…yes, you designers, architects, home retailers and people restoring or renovating your own home…are you interested in coming to the Loire and joining a group to tour around the country side, check out the brocantes to buy what strikes your fancy, and put in a group container to ship back home?

Yes, we would stay at the divine Moulin Bregeon and a nearby chateau (if we get enough people). Yes, Jonathan Robinson would share his artistic eye, and his insiders knowledge of where to go and what to look for. Yes, we would be looking at architectural artifacts as well as furniture that is both in great shape, or that would need a bit of TLC to bring it back to life. Yes, we would get to visit some of the areas fabulous grand homes and chateaux.

All kinds of furniture and accessories

The two dates we are looking at are-April 22-27-sandwiched between the International Furniture Show in Milan (SALONE INTERNAZIONALE DEL MOBILE -April 17-22, 2012) and the Furniture and Interior Decoration Show in Paris (AMEUBLEMENT ET DECORATION-April 27-May 8, 2012)…and/or…in September around the once a year Durtal Brocante (an fabulous annual antique fair I attended this year).

Right now we are looking for a head count of who might be interested in joining us to put together a package especially for you! It would truly be a once in a lifetime tour/buying vacation; a magical escape to another time and place; plus the opportunity to find many one of a kind, old world crafted items that would make your home or project truly unique.

and all kinds of art, linens, accessories and chairs of all sorts!

What do you say? Are you interested? If you are, please leave a comment below and we will add you to our growing list and keep you in the loop as we work out all the details. Come on, raise your hands and get counted!

Check out the video slideshow below to catch a glimpse at some of the fabulous finds I saw when visiting there this past month. Don’t you want to go?

Oh to be able to come and find treasures to bring home but unfortunately my home is a tad far from where your container will arrive. I am sure it will be a lovely trip.

  4. Irene, please keep me on the list if you end up in September. April break is already booked!

  5. Those tiles really are beautiful! I wish I had something like that in my home… We’ve been thinking of re-doing the bathroom, maybe I could do something in there?

I could easily fill a container with the beautiful antiques I love from France. But then what would I do with all of those lovely pieces? Hmmm….

Thanks for inspiring our imaginations yet again!

It’s an amazing place, n’est-ce pas?

I personally moved all of those granite blocks to the side of the grange using one of Jonathan’s antique wheelbarrows.

    Mon dieu! C’etait dur.
