I love a good Bathroom Remodel as much as I love Kitchen Remodels. Recently I finished a bathroom remodel for a client right here in my own back yard.
The challenge was that my clients simple ranch homes main source of heat comes from a gas fireplace that heated the Living Room/Kitchen area, but that was about it. It made getting out of bed in the winter pretty cold, even though our winters are mild by comparison.

So, when we created a plan to update her bedroom space we flipped her master bedroom and bathroom. This allowed her Bedroom to back up to the living room and we installed a see through fireplace insert that could heat both large spaces easily. And, when we put in the new bathroom, we added a ceiling heater to take care of warming up the bathroom. With a crawl space under the home this was pretty easy to do.
The beauty of her home is that it’s all about indoor/ outdoor living, like many homes here in Sonoma County. With a stunning bucolic pond and lovely trees and gardens, bringing the outside in was key.

The second thing I loved about her taste is that it’s very eclectic, or global/boho in feel. Meaning that she’s collected or inherited beautiful pieces, from early American antiques, to Moroccan lanterns and more. We used furniture pieces she inherited from her mother, along with old Moroccan lamps and beautiful brass sinks to create this haven of a master bath.
Combining these lovely pieces, along with a glass door that leads to a very private back yard and outdoor hot tub, plus a bathtub window allows her to enjoy the view of her pond and garden even from her Master Bathroom. It’s a great place to relax at the end of the day.
What do you think? Do you own pieces you could re purpose to update a bathroom or other room in your home?
