7 Tips to Create Great Tablescapes

7 Tips to Create Great Tablescapes

Tables…they serve so much more then just a functional space to set something on. They can become works of art!  They can be a place to display who you are and what you are interested in to all that enter your home. And, the other side to that is, just because there is a space doesn’t mean that you have to fill it. Like a page in a magazine, a bit of “white space” is good too! Here are some tips and trick  to help you create beautiful displays on your table tops. Think in vignettes:

  1. a place to display your collections. From netsukes, to bottles, to artifacts

    via Houzz

  2. you can stack your favorite books and have them readily at your hands to flip through

  3. a table with a vignette of your favorite seashells, or what ever catches your fancy at the time, can help anchor a wall with a mirror or piece of art above it
  4. it can hold framed pictures of your loved ones
  5. it can display important or cherished pieces of art

  6. a table can hold a lamp to light a dark corner or next to a chair to read by
  7. you can set a vase of flowers just so and bring nature into your home while dispersing fragrance through out the room

No matter what you decide to put on your table, be sure there is still room for the function of setting down a glass or newspaper…or if in an entry to set down your bags with a place to put your keys. After all, beauty and function are not mutually exclusive. But, rather they should go hand in hand!

What do you display on your tabletops? Do you enjoy designing beautiful tablescapes? I invite you to leave me a comment below with your ideas…perhaps I can incorporate into a future blog post! In the meantime, enjoy some of the ideas in the video below.

And, thanks for stopping by.

I love “tablescapes,” and my only challenge is changing them to keep them fresh. Once I’ve put one together, I’m reluctant to change it, I like it so much! A new object always gives me a good excuse though!

and you do such a great job with it too Beryn. I too can become attached to my tablescapes and don’t change to often. Ah well, I’m happy with them so who cares, right?

Tablescapes are so much fun! They are the easiest way to make a room new and fresh. My friends joke that every time they come over, I have changed something! And usually it is the accessories, but it gives an entirely new vibe. I love to include bowls in my groupings…in an entryway, they can hold keys, on a cocktail table they are always ready for candles, floating flowers, piles of fresh fruit…the sky is the limit!

totally agree with the bowls, or plates etc. Love having a designated space to put things down in!

The picture is your gravetar and you have to go somewhere to set up a profile and upload a pic. Now please don’t ask me where to go…I will have this pic my whole life because I can’t for the life of me remember where I got it from. I think it was when I commented on someone’s blog and it asked me if I wanted to grab a gravatar. sigh….
