Recently on Facebook, I met designer and artist Susan Wechsler. She is a creator. Working with discarded items, flea market finds and old broken plates, she creates some of the most beautiful and sacred pieces I’ve ever seen. Susan works primarily with antique china, stained glass, figurines, tiles, and gem stones; she works instinctively to create mosaics that are what I would call spiritual art.
As she says:
My true creative desire is to inspire through the unique telling of spiritual stories.”
She can tell your story through commissioned and custom pieces designed with broken and special items of yours that evoke a memory or create a story. Perhaps you have bits and pieces of of china from your grandmother that went to your mother and then to you…or pins or statues that were a gift to you from a special person. With items that stir your memories and your heart she can tell your story.
Or, she creates alters in which you can place your special pieces. Whether commissioned by you, or made from her heart, these fantastic mosaics will create a sacred space in your garden, on a sideboard in your home, or as a spot to uplift you in your office.
She also has a great shop of small items on Etsy where you can find great gifts for yourself, or someone you love.
I LOVE bringing in a little bit of Spirit into a home. It helps to quiet your space, and your mind. What that looks like varies for everyone. For some it can come in the simple beauty of a bud vase and flower, for others they may have a wall of family pictures that evoke spirit. And yet others create altars…altars to meditate on, altars that represent things that bring you closer to love, closer to your Self, and to God. Pieces of art like these from Susan add an extra dimension. A piece of art that is intentionally created for you, for and by spirit turns your home into a sacred space.
Do you add spirit in your home? How do you deal with the sacred in your space? It’s always in your heart, but how do you express it? I invite you to leave me a comment below, I’d love to hear…and, enjoy Susan’s video below…perhaps you too can create a bit of spirit in your home! It’s a Little Bit of Beauty for sure™!
