The Miele Seattle Food Tour was filled with savory tastes, great people, and insight into the latest technology for healthy cooking, all in just 3 days! The Miele Ladies from White Good put us up at the lovely Hotel 1000, and both, the ladies and the hotel, did everything to make our stay enjoyable and very comfortable.
Our adventure began by meeting up with virtual friends, some for the first time in person, and lunch at Seattle’s Bar Sajor (very cool****); then dinner at the divine Altura-the delicious “farm to table” Italian Restaurant in Capital Hill to meet up with the rest of our group.
The next day was filled with amazing food from the great Northwest from start to finish. I was prepared to enjoy the day but did not expect to be too impressed as of course I live here in wine country, the Slow Food capital of the US. WOW, was I wrong. I was surprised and VERY impressed with both the quality of the food, and the culinary feast we experienced throughout the day.
We began on a tour of Pike Market with our charming tour guide Brett, from Savor Seattle Food Tour group. While I’ve visited Seattle often, and almost always visit the market, it was great to get the inside scope and learn more about the history of the oldest farmers market in the United States. Each booth we stopped at told us their story, generously offered us samples and we received a discount towards any purchases we wished to make to take home with us.
At the end Brett asked each of us what our favorite stop was. Well, that was a hard one! They were all terrific, but my top three…the macaroni & cheese from Beecher’s Handmade Cheese, the two types of Clam chowder from Pike Place Chowder…OMGoodness!…and the olive oil & vinegar tasting from Quintessential Gourmet. We need one of those here in Sebastopol!
All in all it was a Gourmet Delight! And this was just the morning. Join me in my next post for our afternoon of baking and cooking with the divine Combi/Steam Oven at Miele. And get the inside scope on our morning in the video below. Enjoy!
