Uptown Design District-Shopping Palm Springs

Cover from Peter Moruzz's Palm Springs Holiday Book-Pure Vintage PS

I love the city of Palm Springs! From old world Spanish architecture, classic mid-century modern homes once owned by such luminaries as the Rat Pack and Cary Grant; to unique furniture stores and the best re-sell furniture shops around…Palm Springs is definitely a destination for those serious about finding unusual and one of kind items for their home.

And not just mid-century either. Continue reading “Uptown Design District-Shopping Palm Springs” »

Geneva, Switzerland-via Santa Rosa Interior Design

As you know, I’ve recently returned from my trip to Geneva and the Loire Valley. Fabulous trip, and although I lived for a short while in Zurich, Switzerland, I had never been to Geneva before. It’s a wonderful city! Even though I was there to work, I still had time to stroll around the streets, traversing from the lake, to old town, the Champel District to the Rive, and PlainPalais!

Nestled between Lake Geneva and the Alps, Geneva hosts some of the best skiing in Europe including Mt. Blanc and Chamonix. Historically, Geneva was the birthplace of the Red Cross organisation and even now it is viewed as the capital of peace and neutrality, hosting the headquarters of the UN and other international organisations. Also know as the home to great watches, and fabulous chocolate, it is the 5th most expensive city in the world…and I will attest to that!    Continue reading “Geneva, Switzerland-via Santa Rosa Interior Design” »

Linières-Bouton-Part 2 of the Loire Valley Chronicles

Just a short walk from Moulin Breteon is the small town of Linières-Bouton. Home to 96 people, one low income house, Napoleon’s great, great grandniece, the requisite church and chateau; and…Jonathan Robinson who calls himself an ”aesthetic refugee,” and who is bent on preserving the traditional architecture of France one building at a time.

Linières-Bouton's downtown, thanks to Father Bartolomew

About six years ago Jonathan purchased most of the buildings in this charming village, which had been abandoned about 20 years before when local residents started moving to larger towns to live, work and shop. He now owns the remains of an old dry goods store, a blacksmith’s shop still crammed with all its original tools, and even a local type of bowling alley, along with several homes. One which houses his art studio.    Continue reading “Linières-Bouton-Part 2 of the Loire Valley Chronicles” »
