The New Face of Beauty-Part 2 What can we do?
Posted by Irene Turner in Inspiration, Personal Style & Well being on May 3, 2012
WOW! The response to my post on The New Face of Beauty a couple of weeks ago was OVERWHELMING! It obviously struck a cord for many women. It sparked several conversations over twitter and Facebook that were interesting to me. One in particular:
You speak truth! Some of us had Barbie to live up to, but the young women and girls today have … the entire electronic and print media. Ashley’s statement that we are being minimized and muted rings so true, and should compel a tidal wave of support. How, though? via Jeannie Shea
I read this as “how can we continue to make a difference?” So I thought about it, and stared asking around, and this is what I got: Continue reading “The New Face of Beauty-Part 2 What can we do?” »
Dwell With Dignity-via Santa Rosa Interior Design

Dwell With Dignity is interior design with heart. Their mission is to help families escape poverty and homelessness through beauty and design. One household at a time. Here is their thought process:
If we can change a person’s surroundings, we can change their outlook on life. Exposing children (especially) to a nurturing home environment, that includes good design and art, can inspire a standard of living that will carry-over to future generations. Exposing parents to this same environment will allow them to see the positive impact it has on their family; inspiring them to maintain a standard of living they can be proud of and thrive in.
Oh yeah…right up my alley. I believe that beauty uplifts people’s spirit and their soul. Without beauty, the world is a dark and dreary place. Beauty Matters! Continue reading “Dwell With Dignity-via Santa Rosa Interior Design” »
The New Face of Beauty

Women…Stand up and unite! The face of beauty is changing and the trend is slowly moving towards allowing ourselves to be real again. We are beginning to establish a new yardstick by which to measure our looks and how we portray ourselves, in the world, and in the media.
As we baby boomers move through life we bring with us money (read buying power), our self absorption about our looks, and our refusal to age like our parents. And, as we watch our over processed peers on todays reality TV shows, we are finally starting to refuse to succumb to past standards of beauty; Waif like figures, with too much botox and a continual fight to look under 40 when we are not.
This trend is emerging from two fronts. Continue reading “The New Face of Beauty” »
Dangerous Beauty-A Beautiful Movie!
Posted by Irene Turner in Inspiration, Personal Style & Well being on April 5, 2012
One of my favorite movies of all times is the 1998 Dangerous Beauty. Yes, it may be a bit sappy, but can I say…it’s one of the most beautiful movies I’ve ever seen!
Being a visual junkie, an Italophile and a lover of beauty in all forms I must admit an obsession for this movie. I’ve already written about Coco Before Chanel, and Coco Chanel and Igor Stravinsky…also visually stunning movies. But I must say, this one rates #1 for me.
Everything about it is beautiful… Continue reading “Dangerous Beauty-A Beautiful Movie!” »
Top 5 Best Red Carpet Dresses at the Academy Awards!
Posted by Irene Turner in Personal Style & Well being on March 1, 2012
Yes, I know…we are all fashion critics, right? And in a less then stellar red carpet year-with a few exceptions, I can’t resist adding my two cents. So, as an ex Fashion Trend Director and a self proclaimed critic, here are my picks for the best of the best dressed looks from the Academy Awards this past Sunday.
#1. Ms. Penelope Cruz-She get’s my vote for number one on the red carpet with Armani! And, she had it in the VERY stellar year of 2007 with atelier Versace in my opinion as well (although Michelle Williams was a very close second). She has an innate grace and inner beauty that shines through. She’s captivating casual, or dressed up in old Hollywood Glam style.
