Book Love!-Part 1 via Santa Rosa Interior Design

I’ve been a reader since I first learned. I’ll never forget the day I was visiting my sister and her family. I woke early and walked into the kitchen for some coffee and there were my niece, nephew and sister sitting at the breakfast table eating and reading their books. I just had to laugh as that was exactly how I grew up! Books weren’t allowed at the dinner table, but breakfast? Well, at the time it was a kind of meditation, and a great way to start the morning.

Since then I have been an avid reader and to this day when I move, I move with over 60 boxes of books! Yes, I take them with me. Now…I do own an iPad…I love that iPad. And yes, when I travel that is also my reading material. But otherwise, I am a lover of books.

How do I love books? Let me count the ways:

Le Moulin Bregeon-Part 1 of the Loire Valley Chronicles

During my recent project in Geneva Switzerland, we had the great good fortune to take a 4 day side trip to Linières-Bouton, Pays De La Loire, in France. I wanted to visit my friend Jonathan, whom I initially met on FB and then in person in California. He told me about his small town and the historic water mill that he was restoring and I was intrigued…so, we went to see for ourselves…Words cannot begin to describe the magic…

Nestled deep in the Loire is an old 19th Century Water Mill (called a Moulin in French) that has been restored and renovated into a fabulous bed and breakfast. Owned by artist Jonathan Robinson, and run with his partners Pascal and Bernard, it is called Moulin Bregeon, and is one of the most tranquil, rejuvenating and uplifting places on earth.

Thanks to Jonathan Robinson and Friends of Moulin Bregeon for sharing this fab photo by Olivia Rae James

It is a sensual retreat for the spirit; Continue reading “Le Moulin Bregeon-Part 1 of the Loire Valley Chronicles” »

EMFs-via Santa Rosa Interior Design

EMFs or, Electric and magnetic fields are created whenever electricity flows through a conductor. These fields exist near power lines, in the wiring in your home, and near and in any electrical appliance or device, including all of our technology, plugged in or wireless.

The question is, can electromagnetic fields (EMF) cause health problems such as brain tumors, ADD, chronic fatigue, headaches, heart problems, stress, forgetfulness, cancer and more? The jury is still out. Numerous studies have produced contradictory results. From my point of view as I don’t know for sure, I’d rather err on the side of personal health and well-being then not. And of course, I’m all about the Energetics of Space™ and creating a harmonious environment!

Summer Solstice-Celebrating the Seasons: Part 1

photo courtesy of Only an Almond Bean

Welcome Summer! Today is the Summer Solstice and what is consider as the official start of summer, and the longest day of the year here in the Northern hemisphere. I love observing these ancient cultural celebrations as it is a great way to slow down, recognize and give thanks to nature in our world.

The Summer solstice is recognized and often celebrated in many cultures around the world, in both the past and the present. The Celts & Slavs celebrated the first day of summer with dancing & bonfires to help increase the sun’s energy. The Chinese marked the day by honoring Li, the Chinese Goddess of Light. Perhaps the most enduring modern ties with Summer Solstice were the Druids’ celebration of the day as the “wedding of Heaven and Earth”, which is why there are so many June weddings as we still believe them to be “lucky”.    Continue reading “Summer Solstice-Celebrating the Seasons: Part 1” »

JLo-Fully Expressed at Home, Really?

It so happened that in one week Ms. Jennifer Lopez was selected as the most beautiful person in the world by People Magazine, and…her beautiful LA home designed by Michelle Workman was featured in Veranda Magazine.

First off, congrats for the accolades on both counts Jennifer. I love that People selected a woman who is NOT 18 and malnourished. But, rather a woman in her 40′s, at the height of her game, who works hard to be there and stay there and who looks like a real woman, beautifully! Yeah, I’m a HUGE fan.

But on to the topic…expressing one’s self at home. There is no doubt about it, Jennifer’s home looks beautiful. Michelle Workman did a lovely job. My question, does it truly reflect all of Jennifer, or her family?    Continue reading “JLo-Fully Expressed at Home, Really?” »
