Touch of Tangerine-Pantone’s Color for 2012

Every year Pantone selects a color for the year. This year it is Tangerine Tango.

“Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it. Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.” Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®.

A mix of yellow and red, tangerine is a happy and joy filled color as I stated when I blogged about orange last year. Definitely a stimulating color I like it best as a pop accent in a room or in your wardrobe. It is a color that stands out and one you can’t miss!

While not what I would have expected or selected for the year, it never the less is a color I love and use often in homes I help design. Here is a look at some of the ways you can use this bright and happy color: Continue reading “Touch of Tangerine-Pantone’s Color for 2012” »

Decorating with Maps-via Napa Interior Design

I am a world traveler and have been lucky enough to have traveled to most of my dream spots. So decorating with maps is a natural, especially when it involves children, and inspiring their minds and evoking curiosity.

This past weekend I helped one of my clients get settled into their new home. Hanging pictures, settling furniture, debating the placement of all important accessories. 7 Ways to Add Fall Decor Naturally-via Santa Rosa Interior Design

It’s fall. Halloween is over, Thanksgiving is on it’s way. Touches of winter have appeared, but fall is still here. I love bringing the seasons and nature into my home. It’s a nod to Mother Nature, and a way to celebrate through out the year.

So, what does fall mean to me?…Harvest, fruits, vegetables, gourds, nuts, the turning of the leaves and warm rich colors. It’s the culmination of a year of growth, the beginning of the stillness of winter, and something worth acknowledging.

I love the city of Palm Springs! From old world Spanish architecture, classic mid-century modern homes once owned by such luminaries as the Rat Pack and Cary Grant; to unique furniture stores and the best re-sell furniture shops around…Palm Springs is definitely a destination for those serious about finding unusual and one of kind items for their home.

And not just mid-century either. Continue reading “Uptown Design District-Shopping Palm Springs” »

Shades of Blue-Via Santa Rosa Interior Design

Shades of Blues range from soft aquatic calm shades to mysterious navy’s. They have not been as prevalent in contemporary interior decor as they used to be. But never the less, blue is still the overwhelming favorite amongst all the colors there are.

While not really a gender specific color, many men say blue is there favorite color. I believe this is because men run warmer body temperature wise, and have a higher testosterone level so, they are looking for balance and choose blue. In general blues are considered cool, calm and peaceful. They are considered a color of dependability, trustworthiness and committed. Blues are often used in classic or traditional room settings.

I found this on FB. Would the designer please let me know who this is?

Softer blues are known as the color of Divinity. These shades enhance:    Continue reading “Shades of Blue-Via Santa Rosa Interior Design” »
