Give Yourself Flowers

What is it about Spring that makes me want to run out and buy flowers? I mean, it’s not like our winters here in Northern California are particularly harsh or grey…well maybe grey, but also emerald green. Never the less, every spring I want to fill my garden with blooms, and place them all over my house! They simply make me happy.

Flowers can be:

Running, running, running.  It’s what I’ve been doing lately.  So Monday, when I was out in Bodega Bay for a couple of meetings I found myself thinking…I need a break.  Sitting in my car I thought, go home and write, or seize the moment and take that break.  Break it was.    Continue reading “A Beautiful Bodega Bay Beach Break!-via Santa Rosa Design” »

Iceland Volcano Eruption & Mother Nature-via Santa Rosa

The devastating volcanic eruption(s) in Iceland which began last month and continue to this day are affecting the world at large.  Because they are erupting underneath glaciers, they are not only sending smoke and ash into the air, but also melting the ice and causing flooding.  All this brings new meaning to the phrase…”Don’t mess with Mother Nature”.  And like a woman, she is beautiful in her wrath.    Continue reading “Iceland Volcano Eruption & Mother Nature-via Santa Rosa” »

The Natural Design of a Woman

As I move forward in my blogging process I will be introducing guest bloggers on topics I think relate to design and beauty.  After all, isn’t good design a thing of beauty?

The Art and Soul of Persia!

There is a special beauty in traveling to a part of our world that is so different from our daily life that it transports us to another time and space.  The many splendors of Persia, or Iran, have always held a fascination for me because of the exotic and rich nature of it’s ancient history.  I’m fortunate to have been introduced to the wonders of Iran at an early age through the people. With my father entertaining Iranian clients in our home, to meeting my soul sister, an Iranian student and my college roommate, I saw their world through them.

Recently, over a glass of wine, vineyard owner and world traveler Ellen Mack, told me about her trip to Iran in 2008.  Her obvious admiration for and appreciation of the beauty she saw inspired me to put together this post. Thanks to her for taking such fabulous photographs which truly show the Art and Soul of the Persian People!  (click on “Full Screen” for best view)
