Leaving on a Jet Plane-Geneva, Switzerland

Leaving on a Jet Plane

I’m off to Geneva Switzerland tomorrow to help a client and her fiance to settle into their new apartment. Yes…I am excited to work with a long time client and friend, and yes…it is a wonderful and challenging project. Here is just a little of what it will entail.  Continue reading “Leaving on a Jet Plane-Geneva, Switzerland” »

Social Media Revolution

What does the social media revolution have to do with a Little Bit of Beauty™ you ask? For me, it’s changed my life. The way I do business, how I interact with people through out my day; how I can live a global life in the comfort of my own home.

Since I can’t be on all sites well, my 4 social media sites of choice are Facebook (business and personal), YouTube, Twitter and Linkedin, probably in that order. In addition to these social media sites I also blog (which has literally got me clients),and, I met my husband 7 years ago on match.com (that made me VERY happy ). So, as a trend director it’s always rewarding to see the trend you predict and embrace, coming into fore.

Keep Calm and Carry On

Keep Calm and Carry on

This simple five-word message was and is the very model of British restraint and stiff upper lip.

In 1939, with war against Germany looming, the British Government designed three posters to steady the public’s resolve and maintain morale. These featured the crown of King George VI set against a bold red background, and three distinctive slogans – “Freedom is in Peril”, “Your Courage, Your Cheerfulness, Your Resolution Will Bring Us Victory”, and “Keep Calm and Carry On”.

Keep Calm and Carry On was intended to be released in a big way should Britain ever be invaded. Since they weren’t, the posters disappeared.  The message was all but forgotten until 2000, when a copy was discovered in a box of books bought at auction in Northumberland. Today, this message has risen in popularity again. Green ReModeling in Bodega Bay

Last year I mentioned that I had picked up a project out in Bodega Bay and was getting ready for my presentation. Well we are finally in the midst of construction. I termed the project “Sonoma Country meets the Coast, in a barn like atmosphere with the sound of the ocean”.

barn like atmosphere with primary colors for fun!

My clients have used this home for years as their “get away” place and have enjoyed it tremendously. But, like most home in the north harbor it was built in the mid 70′s and was just plain tired. Plus, their children are older and in college, coming up with guests of their own when their parents weren’t in the house, and, in a future that is getting closer, that of retirement, the house will get more use.

Besides updating and refreshing their home, and making it user friendly for more and more people, Continue reading “Green ReModeling in Bodega Bay” »

JR-an artist with a global canvas

Not since the Let’s Colour Project have I been so inspired by a global project. Inside Out  is a large-scale art project that transforms messages of personal identity into pieces of artistic work…and, in reading about this project it turned me onto the body of work by JR the artist.
