Did you know it was National Get Organized Month? I didn’t until I read Simplified Bee’s blog. And in thinking about it, it makes sense. I remember my mother and Oma used to call it spring cleaning. According to Wikipedia, spring cleaning: “…refers to the yearly act of cleaning a house from top to bottom which would take place in the first warm days of the year typically in spring, hence the name. However it has also come to be synonymous with any kind of heavy duty cleaning or organizing enterprise. A person who gets their affairs in order before an audit or inspection could be said to be doing some spring cleaning.”
Why do I believe that organization is so important? Between our busy lives and all the change in our world, the more organized we are the easier it is to move through change and keep on track in our daily lives. I actually like getting organized, on all levels, at the beginning of the year rather in than in the spring. For one thing, it feels like a fresh start. For another, the beginning of the year tends to be slower for me then the spring. Plus, winter, by nature of the season, is a time for introspection and staying indoors. What better way to spend our time then organizing so that when we are busy our lives are easier. Here are some areas to organize as we enter this new year…
I hope this helps jumpstart your new year. I would love to hear from you…what you do to keep yourself and your life organized?
Happy New Year!
